HARARE, ZIMBABWE – Despite winning the first two matches of the T20 series, Pakistan suffered a surprise defeat in the final match against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe secured a thrilling two-wicket victory, chasing down a modest 133-run target set by Pakistan.
Pakistan’s decision to replace their star opener, Sam Ayub, who had previously played crucial innings, backfired significantly. The team stumbled early, losing three wickets within the first 10 runs. Captain Salman Agha’s 32 runs and contributions from the lower order managed to push the score to a meagre 133.
Zimbabwe’s chase got off to a strong start thanks to Brian Bennett’s 43-run knock. While captain Sikandar Raza continued his poor run of form, scoring only 19 runs, the lower middle-order steered Zimbabwe to victory.
Despite the loss, Pakistan secured the T20 series 2-1. The result, however, highlights Zimbabwe’s competitive spirit and ability to challenge stronger teams, following their earlier defeat in the ODI series against Pakistan.
