**Oroville, CA** – A shooting at Feather River Adventist School near Palermo, Butte County, left two students injured and the suspected gunman dead Wednesday afternoon. Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea reported that deputies responded to a 911 call around 1 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two students were also found with gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital. The sheriff’s office is withholding the age and gender of the injured children, though one was airlifted.
Students were evacuated to the Oroville Church of the Nazarene (2238 Monte Vista Ave.) for reunification with their parents. Sheriff Honea stated that the shooter, who remains unidentified, is not believed to have any connection to the school. The K-8 campus, which enrolls 35 students, remains on lockdown. Highway 70 is currently closed in both directions between East Gridley and Power House Road due to the incident. The extent of the students’ injuries is unknown.
