**MUMBAI, INDIA –** Comedian Sunil Pal, winner of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, was reportedly kidnapped and held for several hours on Tuesday, December 3rd, before being released unharmed. His wife, Sarita Pal, confirmed his safe return home late Tuesday evening, stating that he had given a statement to the police regarding his abduction.
Pal, who had been traveling outside Mumbai for a performance, was expected home on Tuesday. When he failed to return and his phone was unreachable, his wife contacted authorities. Following a missing person report, Pal contacted his family and confirmed he was returning home.
While details surrounding the kidnapping remain scarce, film trade analyst Girish Wankhede reported that Pal mentioned a “problem” before his release. Sarita Pal stated that the police are investigating and assisting the family. She indicated that further information will be released once the police investigation is complete and a formal First Information Report (FIR) is filed. Pal is expected to return to Mumbai shortly.
