**Puri, Odisha –** The Indian Navy showcased its might and operational readiness in a spectacular “Operational Demonstration” at Blue Flag Beach, Puri, Odisha, on Wednesday, Navy Day. The event, attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and other dignitaries, commemorated Operation Trident, the decisive 1971 attack on Karachi harbor.
The demonstration featured a wide array of naval assets, including 15 warships, MiG 29K fighter jets, MH 60R helicopters, and Marine Commandos, highlighting the Navy’s capabilities across various domains. The display also included combat beach reconnaissance by Marine Commandos, musical performances by the Naval band, and drills by Naval personnel. The event concluded with a dazzling spectacle of illuminated ships and a laser and drone show.
The Navy stated the demonstration aimed to underscore its rich history, the bravery of its personnel, and its unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s maritime interests. The event drew large crowds of spectators and attracted significant online viewership. This marks only the second time the Indian Navy has hosted such a large-scale event outside a major naval station, choosing Puri’s Blue Flag Beach, approximately 500 km from Visakhapatnam.
