Thu Dec 05 15:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Waymo’s Self-Driving Cars to Hit Miami Streets in 2026
**Miami, FL –** Self-driving car company Waymo announced plans to launch its ride-hailing service, Waymo One, in Miami by 2026. The company, currently operating in Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Austin, will initially deploy its all-electric Jaguar I-PACEs in early 2025 for testing and familiarization with Miami’s roads. The full-scale launch will be a partnership with Moove, a global mobility solutions company, which will manage fleet operations, facilities, and charging infrastructure.
Waymo cites Miami’s status as an innovation hub and its experience navigating challenging weather conditions in Florida as key factors in its decision. The service will be accessible through the Waymo One app, offering a sustainable and accessible transportation option for both residents and tourists.
“Fully autonomous driving technology offers a safe and convenient option to the people of Miami,” said Miami Mayor Francis X. Suarez. “Waymo’s commitment to sustainability with their all-electric fleet is the perfect mobility option for our city.”
The partnership with Moove will first be implemented in Phoenix before expanding to Miami, aiming for a smoother, more cost-effective scaling of Waymo’s services. Both companies expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, highlighting the potential to revolutionize urban mobility. Waymo will retain responsibility for the autonomous driving technology and service validation.
