Bhubaneswar, Dec 4 (IANS) – Odisha FC’s star striker, Roy Krishna, will miss the remainder of the Indian Super League season due to a Grade 3 ACL injury. The club announced the devastating news on Wednesday, confirming the diagnosis from their medical team.
Krishna, 37, suffered the injury during a match against Hyderabad FC. He joined Odisha FC in 2023 after successful stints with Atletico de Kolkata and Bengaluru FC, and had already broken the club’s single-season goalscoring record in his first full campaign. His contributions, including 58 goals and 28 assists in 116 appearances across his Indian Super League career, have been integral to Odisha FC’s success.
Head Coach Sergio Lobera expressed his sadness at the loss of the Fijian forward, calling him “one of the best professionals I have ever worked with.” While acknowledging the setback, Lobera expressed confidence in Krishna’s recovery and the team’s continued focus.
Odisha FC’s statement conveyed disappointment but also optimism for the future, wishing Krishna a speedy recovery. The club will undoubtedly feel the absence of their prolific striker in the remaining matches.
