Thu Dec 05 01:29:54 UTC 2024: **Man United Teenager Kukonki Could Make History with Arsenal Debut**

LONDON, ENGLAND – Manchester United academy defender Godwill Kukonki, 16, is with the first team squad for their Premier League clash against Arsenal on Wednesday. The towering 6ft 5in centre-back, who can also play left-back, has impressed manager Ruben Amorim since joining the first team training sessions. He even travelled with the team to Ipswich for their first game under Amorim, though he didn’t feature.

Kukonki, who signed a scholarship deal this summer, has been a regular at first-team training, leading some at Old Trafford to believe he could become the first United defender to play in the Premier League before turning 18. His potential is so high that he was even excluded from the Under-19s’ UEFA Youth League qualifier last week.

While his appearance against Arsenal remains uncertain, the possibility of a Premier League debut before his 17th birthday in February 2025 is generating significant excitement. Amorim, known for promoting academy players – having debuted 27 from Sporting Lisbon’s academy – will not hesitate to give Kukonki a chance if he deems him ready. The teenager’s rapid progress is already making him a notable presence within the club.
