Wed Dec 04 18:03:14 UTC 2024: ## Teen Sensation Yamal Sparks Barcelona’s 5-1 Rout of Mallorca, Re-establishing League Lead

**Barcelona, Spain –** Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal’s return from injury propelled FC Barcelona to a resounding 5-1 victory over Mallorca on Tuesday, ending a three-match winless streak and solidifying their position at the top of La Liga. Manager Hansi Flick credited Yamal, who had been sidelined for four weeks with an ankle injury, as the catalyst for the dominant performance.

“Today, Yamal was very important for us,” Flick told Movistar Plus after the match. “He always generates positive things for the team. He could have scored one or two goals today; he played very well.”

Yamal’s absence had seen Barcelona struggle, dropping points and allowing rivals Real Madrid to close the gap at the top of the table to just one point. However, with the young star back in the starting lineup, Barcelona controlled the match, creating numerous chances and showcasing their attacking prowess. Although Mallorca equalized following a counter-attack, Barcelona’s composure and relentless pressure ultimately secured the victory.

“In the first half, we had a lot of chances and we scored, but they equalized in a counter-attack,” Flick commented. “But we kept going. The entire team is happy with how things went tonight.”

Interestingly, star striker Robert Lewandowski was rested for the match, giving Ferran Torres the opportunity to shine. Torres seized the chance, scoring Barcelona’s opening goal after capitalizing on a defensive error by Mallorca. Flick explained Lewandowski’s absence, stating, “Lewandowski needed to rest; we had to look after him. And Ferran had a very good game and scored the first goal. It’s very important for him too.”

The victory puts Barcelona back on top of the La Liga table with 37 points, four points ahead of Real Madrid (who have two games in hand). Atletico Madrid sits in third place with 32 points (one game in hand). Yamal’s return and Barcelona’s convincing win signal a strong return to form as the season progresses.
