Wed Dec 04 03:31:03 UTC 2024: ## CAT 2024 Provisional Answer Key Released: Objection Window Opens

**Kolkata, India** – The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has released the provisional answer key for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024, held on November 24th. Approximately 2.93 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, representing an 89% turnout of the 3.29 lakh registered candidates. Of those who took the exam, 1.07 lakh were female, 1.86 lakh male, and five transgender.

The answer key, available on the official website (iimcat.ac.in), allows students to check their responses and raise objections. The 68-question paper consisted of 24 questions in Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), 22 in Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and 22 in Quantitative Ability.

**Objection Window Open:**

The objection window opened at 6 PM on December 3rd and will close at 11:55 PM on December 5th. Candidates can login using their registration number, date of birth, and a captcha code to submit objections with supporting documentation and a fee. Note that scores will be normalized across different exam sessions to ensure fairness.

**Last Year’s Statistics:**

Last year, only 2 out of 85 objections were accepted following expert evaluation. The IIMs emphasize that iimcat.ac.in is the only legitimate source of information regarding CAT 2024.

The announcement of the provisional answer key coincides with other news from IIMs: IIM Kozhikode’s new certificate program in design thinking and innovation with AI, IIM Mumbai’s MBA in Sustainability Management applications (deadline January 31st, 2025), and a record number of women enrolled in the 2024-26 batch across various IIMs. Despite this increase, gender balance remains an ongoing issue in many top IIMs.
