Wed Dec 04 16:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Broncos Waive Veteran Wide Receiver Josh Reynolds

**ENGLEWOOD, Colo. –** The Denver Broncos have waived veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds, opting not to activate him from injured reserve. The team had until Tuesday to add Reynolds to their 53-man roster. Instead, the Broncos chose to release him, citing the emergence of rookie receivers Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin, who have secured prominent roles in the offense.

Reynolds, who signed a two-year, $9 million deal in March, played five games for Denver before suffering a fractured finger in October. He recorded 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown in that span. The Broncos will still be responsible for paying him the $4.245 million guaranteed in his contract.

Reynolds’ time with the Broncos was also marked by an October shooting incident in Denver, in which he suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his head and arm. Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting.

The Broncos have the option to re-sign Reynolds to their practice squad if he clears waivers. If he remains unclaimed, he will become a free agent. The team’s decision highlights their confidence in their younger receiving corps, particularly Vele, who currently ranks second on the team in receptions and receiving yards. The Broncos’ decision comes after rookie Marvin Mims Jr. had a breakout performance in Monday night’s win against the Cleveland Browns, recording a 100-yard receiving game.
