Tue Dec 03 23:54:38 UTC 2024: ## Armed Rebels Burn Construction Equipment in Jharkhand, Claiming Responsibility
**TANDWA, INDIA** – A nighttime attack by armed rebels resulted in the destruction of construction equipment in Tandwa, Jharkhand. Late Saturday night, five armed insurgents, reportedly from the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), set fire to a Poclain machine and a Hydra machine at bridge number 103, part of the Shivpur-Kathotia railway line project under construction by ISC Construction Company.
While firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze on the Hydra machine, the Poclain machine, valued at ₹60 lakh (approximately $72,000 USD), was completely destroyed. The rebels left behind a poster claiming responsibility for the attack and issuing threats to contractors and coal businessmen.
Police Inspector Anil Uraon confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway, with police actively searching for the perpetrators. Local residents are reportedly living in fear following the attack. Authorities suspect the arson was carried out to extort “levy” payments.
