Tue Dec 03 16:31:02 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan’s Sufiyan Muqeem Bags Record-Equalling Five-Wicket Haul in Zimbabwe T20
**Bulawayo, Zimbabwe:** Pakistan spinner Sufiyan Muqeem delivered a stunning performance in the second T20I against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, claiming a remarkable five wickets for just three runs in 2.4 overs. His devastating spell bowled out Zimbabwe for a paltry 57 runs in 12.4 overs, leading Pakistan to a resounding 10-wicket victory.
Muqeem’s exceptional figures equal the world record for the most economical five-wicket haul by a player from a full member nation in a T20I. He is only the fourth player from a Test-playing nation to achieve this feat with under five runs conceded. This achievement surpasses the previous record held jointly by Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath (5/3 in 3.3 overs against New Zealand in 2014), Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (5/3 in 2 overs against Pakistan in 2024), and India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5/4 against Afghanistan in 2022).
Muqeem’s performance also eclipses the previous Pakistan record held by Umar Gul, who took 5 wickets for 6 runs in 3 overs against New Zealand in 2009, and another 5 for 6 runs in 2.2 overs against South Africa in 2013. This is Muqeem’s third five-wicket haul in T20Is, making him only the third Pakistani bowler to achieve this milestone.
