**Ranchi, Jharkhand:** A 50-year-old tribal woman, Mangri Uraon, from Chutio village near Ranchi, has allegedly been subjected to four months of torture by villagers who have branded her a witch. The incident highlights the continued prevalence of witch-hunting in some parts of India.
Uraon and her family have been living in terror, with villagers disrupting their lives by destroying their home, cutting off their water and electricity supply. Despite filing a police report at the Narkopi police station, the harassment continues unabated. A previous police attempt to intervene was met with resistance from the villagers. Forced to flee to her maternal home, Uraon returned to harvest her crops and was again targeted.
