**New York, NY** – Aliya Fakhri, the sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been indicted on multiple counts of first-degree murder and arson following a deadly fire in Queens, New York. Prosecutors allege Fakhri intentionally set fire to a detached garage on November 2nd, killing 35-year-old Edward Jacobs and 33-year-old Anastasia Ettienne.
According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Fakhri allegedly shouted, “You’re all going to die today,” before the blaze erupted. Jacobs and Ettienne were trapped inside the garage and perished from smoke inhalation and severe burns. Ettienne attempted to rescue Jacobs, who was asleep at the time, but the flames quickly engulfed the structure.
Jacobs, a plumber and father of three, had ended his relationship with Fakhri a year prior, but she reportedly continued to pursue him, according to his mother. She stated that Jacobs had repeatedly tried to end contact with Fakhri, who was unwilling to accept the rejection. The relationship between Jacobs and Ettienne was purely platonic, his mother added.
Fakhri’s mother has vehemently denied the accusations, expressing disbelief and revealing that her daughter has been struggling with opioid addiction.
Fakhri faces four counts of first-degree murder and arson charges, carrying a potential life sentence if convicted. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9th.
