**Alappuzha, Kerala:** Five first-year MBBS students from TD Medical College, Alappuzha, tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision with a roadways bus on Monday night. The accident occurred around 10 pm during an hour of heavy rainfall. The impact was so severe that the car was completely destroyed, requiring rescue workers to cut it open to retrieve the victims.
The deceased students have been identified as Devanandan and Muhammed Ibrahim (both from Lakshadweep), and Ayush Shaji, Shreedeep Valson, and Muhammed Jabbar (all from Kerala). While some bus passengers sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized, the five students died at the scene. Their families have been informed, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
