Mon Dec 02 14:53:36 UTC 2024: ## Man Posing as IAS Officer Arrested for Threatening LLB Student

**Lucknow, Dec 4** – A man has been booked for allegedly impersonating an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and threatening an LLB student with violence if she refused to marry him. Deepak Kumar, who is currently at large, faces charges under several sections of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita and the IT (Amendment) Act.

The complaint, filed by the student’s mother at the Chinhat police station on November 30th, alleges that Kumar first contacted the victim in 2020 via WhatsApp, falsely claiming to be an IAS officer undergoing training in Delhi. He provided false credentials, including Aadhaar details and claimed a BTech degree from Haryana.

The victim later discovered Kumar’s true identity: an employee of a Delhi-based private company specializing in computer work. The complaint further alleges that Kumar has a history of targeting women, using hacking to pressure them into marriage, with two to three previous victims already involved in ongoing cases against him.

Kumar’s harassment escalated to include abusive and threatening messages to the victim and her family, culminating in threats of kidnapping, acid attacks, and even decapitation. The victim’s mother alleges that Kumar’s motives are financially driven, citing his attempts to force a marriage to gain access to her daughter’s property.

The police have registered a case against Kumar under sections 352, 351(2), and 79 of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the IT (Amendment) Act. The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively pursuing his arrest.
