**VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh –** A newborn baby girl was discovered abandoned near the Saibaba temple in Kandrika village, on the outskirts of Vijayawada, early Tuesday morning. Villagers alerted the Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) Department and the Nunna Police after finding the infant in the bushes.
According to WD&CW NTR District Project Director G. Uma Devi, the baby was taken to the Old Government General Hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from near the temple to identify the person responsible for abandoning the child. The baby will subsequently be transferred to the government-run Sishu Gruha (children’s home). The Protection Officer of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Y. Johnson, confirmed the baby’s transfer to the hospital and stable condition.
