Tue Dec 03 01:30:00 UTC 2024: **Woman Alleges Fraud, Impersonation by Man Posing as Police Officer; Guntur SP Orders Investigation**
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh: A woman from Guntur filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Police (SP) on Monday, alleging that a man she married after he falsely represented himself as a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police defrauded her of a substantial amount of money and gold.
The victim stated that she met Sai Teja two and a half years ago at a hospital in Kottapeta where she works as a receptionist. He claimed to be an SI from Tenali and showed her photographs of himself in police uniform with other officers. Over time, he built a relationship with her through WhatsApp and eventually convinced her to marry him in Vijayawada in 2023.
According to the complaint, Sai Teja systematically defrauded her of ₹23 lakhs, claiming he could provide construction materials at a discounted rate for her house, and eight sovereign of gold jewelry meant for her daughters’ weddings. He also persuaded her to take a loan of ₹10 lakhs to purchase a car, which he later disappeared with.
After investigating, the woman discovered that Sai Teja was not a police officer but an accountant who filed IT applications for the police. She also learned that he has a wife and two children in Tenali, a fact he concealed from her.
Responding to the complaint, Guntur SP Satish Kumar ordered a special investigation into the matter. The investigation will focus on the allegations of fraud, impersonation, and criminal breach of trust.
