**Mumbai, December 3, 2024** – Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led state government for reinstating contractual hiring, accusing the ruling alliance of betraying the youth. Patole asserted that the Congress will lead street protests if the decision isn’t reversed.
Patole highlighted the contradiction between the BJP’s pre-election promises and its post-election actions. He cited assurances from former Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to halt contractual hiring, which have been seemingly broken, as evidenced by recent advertisements for contract positions within the health and MPSC departments. He also alleged that these contracts often benefit companies with BJP affiliations.
The Congress leader further criticized the government’s inaction in forming a new administration ten days after election results, calling the state “leaderless.” He contrasted this delay with the urgent need for job opportunities for millions of educated youth, emphasizing the government’s prioritization of contractual recruitment over fulfilling its promises.
Patole also voiced concern over a recent fare hike by the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and questioned the government’s commitment to fulfilling election pledges such as loan waivers for farmers and guaranteed agricultural prices. He warned that the BJP’s actions demonstrate disregard for public welfare and that the Congress will not hesitate to mobilize protests if necessary.
