Tue Dec 03 01:30:00 UTC 2024: **Apple Employee Sues, Alleging Illegal Surveillance and Suppression of Employee Speech**

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – A former Apple employee, Amar Bakht, filed a lawsuit against the tech giant on Sunday, alleging unlawful surveillance and suppression of employee speech. Bakht, who worked at Apple since 2020, claims the company installed software on employees’ personal devices, allowing access to emails, photos, health data, and smart home information. He alleges this surveillance violates employee privacy and stifles discussion about workplace conditions.

The lawsuit further claims Apple restricts employees from discussing their work experiences on podcasts or social media platforms like LinkedIn, demanding the removal of work-related information from employee profiles. Bakht argues these policies are overly restrictive, violating whistleblowing protections and inhibiting fair competition.

Apple denies the allegations, stating the lawsuit is without merit and that the company provides annual training on employee rights. A spokesperson emphasized Apple’s focus on delivering high-quality products and services while protecting employee creativity.

This is not the first legal battle Apple faces regarding employee treatment. In June, lawyers representing Bakht also filed petitions on behalf of two female engineers alleging systemic gender-based pay discrimination. Apple dismissed these claims, insisting it provides equal pay. The company is currently facing a total of five lawsuits related to employee relations.
