**Hyderabad, December 3, 2024** – Air Commodore Vikassheel Singh Saini assumed command of Air Force Station Hakimpet in a ceremonial parade held on Monday. He succeeds Air Commodore Pankaj Jain.

Air Commodore Saini, commissioned into the Indian Air Force in June 1998, boasts an extensive career marked by significant experience and expertise. A National Defence Academy (NDA) alumnus and Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) graduate, he’s also completed the Higher Air Command Course at the College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad, where he later served on the Directing Staff.

With over 2,100 hours of flight time on various aircraft, including MiG-29, MiG-21, and HJT-16, he is a qualified flying instructor and a former member of the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team. His leadership roles include commanding a forward base in the western sector and a frontline fighter squadron, where he was instrumental in operationalizing upgraded MiG-29 aircraft. He also served as an Aviation Staff Officer with the UN Mission in South Sudan.

In recognition of his service, Air Commodore Saini received the Vayu Sena Medal in 2018.
