**New York, NY** – Aliya Fakhri, 43, sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been indicted on murder charges in connection with a deadly fire in Queens, New York. Fakhri is accused of intentionally setting fire to a detached garage on November 23rd, resulting in the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, 35, and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne, 33.
According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Fakhri allegedly arrived at the property early in the morning and shouted, “You’re all going to die today,” before starting the blaze. Ettienne perished attempting to rescue Jacobs from the burning building. Both victims died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
Prosecutors allege that Fakhri committed the arson after Jacobs ended their relationship over a year ago and refused her attempts at reconciliation. Jacobs’ mother, Janet, confirmed to the New York Post that her son had been trying to distance himself from Fakhri, who reportedly refused to accept the breakup.
Fakhri faces four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and arson charges. She has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held at Rikers Island. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9th. If convicted on the most serious charge, she could face life imprisonment.
Fakhri’s mother has publicly expressed disbelief in her daughter’s alleged involvement, portraying her as a caring individual. The case has garnered significant attention due to the involvement of Nargis Fakhri.
