MUMBAI, INDIA – Kannada film star Rishab Shetty is set to portray the legendary Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in an upcoming historical drama titled “The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” The film, directed by Bollywood filmmaker Sandeep Singh, was officially announced today with the release of a poster showcasing Shetty in the titular role.
The movie, a biographical account of the 17th-century Indian king Shivaji Bhosale, will be a pan-Indian release, hitting theaters on January 21, 2027. It will be dubbed in six languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, and Tamil. Shetty himself shared the news on social media, emphasizing the film’s goal to honor Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy and his fight against oppression.
