**Alappuzha, Kerala:** Five first-year MBBS students from TD Medical College in Alappuzha, Kerala, tragically lost their lives in a devastating road accident on Monday night. The accident occurred around 10 PM when the car carrying the students collided with a roadways bus during heavy rain. The impact was so severe that the car was completely destroyed, requiring rescue workers to cut it open to extract the trapped students.
While some passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized, the five students—Devanandan and Muhammed Ibrahim (both from Lakshadweep), and Ayush Shaji, Shreedeep Valson, and Muhammed Jabbar (all Kerala residents)—died at the scene. Their families have been informed, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.
The accident has cast a pall of grief over the Alappuzha community and TD Medical College. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
