Bundi, Rajasthan: A shocking incident of a woman being branded a witch and brutally assaulted has come to light in the Hindoli police station area of Bundi district. The victim, a woman from the Jahazpur area of Bhilwara district, was visiting relatives in Gudha Gokulpura, Bundi. She was allegedly targeted by a tantrik (black magic practitioner) who accused her of possessing an evil spirit causing her niece’s stomach ache.
The tantrik, along with others, shaved the victim’s head, branded her body with hot irons, blackened her face, and paraded her through the village. The woman managed to escape and reported the incident to the Hindoli police station. ASP Jasveer Meena of the Bundi women’s discipline cell confirmed the incident and stated that a case has been registered. A medical examination of the victim has been conducted, and the police are currently searching for the perpetrators. The incident highlights the continued prevalence of witch-hunting and related violence in certain parts of Rajasthan.
