Tue Dec 03 01:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Air Quality Shows Signs of Improvement, While Noida and Greater Noida Breathe Easier
**New Delhi, [Date]:** Delhiites can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the air quality index (AQI) shows signs of improvement. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts wind speeds of 10-20 kilometers per hour for the next four days, facilitating the dispersion of pollutants. This follows a period of severe air pollution in November, peaking at over 300 on October 30th, a day before Diwali. Sunday’s AQI stood at 285, down from 346 on Saturday. However, ten areas in Delhi still recorded AQI levels above 300, in the “very poor” category. The IMD forecasts continued strong winds, with speeds reaching 8-16 kmph on Tuesday.
Rising temperatures, with a maximum of 27.4°C on Monday (2°C above normal) at Safdarjung observatory, are also contributing to improved air quality. This trend is expected to continue for another two days.
Meanwhile, Noida and Greater Noida have experienced a significant improvement in air quality after a month of poor conditions. Both cities recorded AQIs below 200 on Monday, a stark contrast to the “moderate” to “severe” levels seen in late October. Noida’s AQI was 166 and Greater Noida’s was 196. This improvement follows a consistent decrease in AQI over the past three days, with notable improvement since the high levels recorded on November 30th (Noida 258, Greater Noida 292). Despite the improvement, PM2.5 levels remain higher than PM10 in both Noida and Greater Noida.
While the overall air quality has improved, sector-62 in Noida remained the most polluted area (AQI 223), while sector-1 recorded the lowest (AQI 110). In Greater Noida, Knowledge Park Five’s AQI was 221. Minimum temperatures in both cities were recorded at 10.8°C, and maximum temperatures at 27.4°C.
