**YINGKIONG, Arunachal Pradesh:** Arunachal Pradesh observed World AIDS Day on December 1st with a series of events focused on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS under the theme “Take the rights path.” The day saw rallies, awareness sessions, and competitions across the state.

In Yingkiong, Upper Siang district, a rally involving students, teachers, and members of indigenous faith communities highlighted the issue. Upper Siang District AIDS Control Officer Dr. Ahik Miyu addressed participants, emphasizing the modes of HIV transmission, prevention methods, and available services. Dr. Miyu expressed serious concern over the increasing number of HIV-positive cases in the state, particularly those linked to intravenous drug use among shared needles and syringes. He urged youth to abstain from substance abuse to prevent HIV transmission and encouraged widespread HIV testing.

Meanwhile, in Pasighat, the Red Ribbon Club-JNC (RRC-JNC) partnered with the NSS unit and the Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society to hold events including drawing and painting competitions. Dr. Kento Kadu, RRC-JNC coordinator, underscored the importance of annually commemorating World AIDS Day.

At Sudhaar Ghar in Charju, Tirap district, World AIDS Day celebrations were combined with Indigenous Faith Day. Dr. Chelu Pumao led an awareness session addressing HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention, and common misconceptions. Staff, recovery brothers, and inmates of Sudhaar Ghar participated in the program. The events across the state collectively aimed to combat the spread of HIV and promote testing and preventative measures.
