**Mumbai, India** – Thermax share prices surged by 4% today, reaching Rs 4,633.9, outpacing the broader market. This strong performance contributed to a slight 0.1% increase in the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index, which closed at 69,710.3.
Other top performers in the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index included SKF India (up 3.1%) and Bharat Electronics (up 1.9%). However, Adani Green Energy (down 6.2%) and Finolex Cables (down 2.1%) experienced significant losses.
Over the past year, Thermax shares have shown remarkable growth, increasing by 77.2% from Rs 2,614.5 to Rs 4,633.9. The BSE CAPITAL GOODS index also saw substantial gains, rising 42.9% during the same period. Bharat Electronics (up 110.2%), Hindustan Aeronautics (up 107.0%), and Siemens (up 104.1%) were the top performers within the index over the past 12 months.
Despite the positive performance in the capital goods sector, the broader market showed mixed results. The BSE Sensex edged down 0.1% to 80,022.6, with Ultratech Cement and Mundra Port & SEZ among the top losers. The NSE Nifty also dipped 0.1% to 24,210.3.
Thermax’s strong performance is reflected in its recent financial results. The company reported a 24.7% year-on-year increase in net profit for the quarter ended September 2024, reaching Rs 1,980 million. Net sales also rose by 13.4% to Rs 26,116 million. For the fiscal year ended March 2024, Thermax saw a 42.7% increase in net profit and a 15.2% rise in revenue. The company’s price-to-earnings ratio currently stands at 75.4.
