**New Delhi, India –** Skoda Auto India has officially launched its highly anticipated compact SUV, the Kyaq. Bookings for the vehicle opened on December 2nd, 2024, with deliveries slated to begin on January 27th, 2025. Before deliveries commence, the Kyaq will be showcased at the India Mobility Expo, offering potential buyers a chance to examine the vehicle and learn more about its features.
Built on the India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform, the 3.995-meter-long Kyaq boasts a stylish exterior featuring a 3D-ribbed shiny black front grille, LED headlamps and DRLs, crystalline LED taillamps, and 17-inch blacked-out alloy wheels. Inside, a spacious 446-liter boot complements a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, sunroof, adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and a wireless charger. Safety is prioritized with six airbags, ABS with EBD, and over 35 active and passive safety features including cruise control.
Powering the Kyaq is a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine producing 114 hp and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Skoda claims the vehicle offers impressive fuel efficiency.
The Kyaq enters a highly competitive sub-4-meter compact SUV segment, already dominated by established players like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. The success of the Kyaq will depend on its ability to carve a niche for itself in this crowded market. Industry analysts will be keenly watching its performance in the coming months.
