**Chennai, November 27, 2024** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held an emergency meeting this morning with the Collectors of six districts in anticipation of a developing cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of the potential for the low-pressure area to intensify into a cyclone.

The Chief Minister, via video conference from the Chennai Secretariat, addressed officials from Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Cuddalore districts. He issued instructions on preemptive measures to be taken in flood-prone areas and outlined relief efforts for those potentially affected.

Stalin ordered the formation of zonal committees comprising various government departments to coordinate relief efforts. He also directed the preparation of medical teams and the mobilization of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, along with NGO support, to assist those affected.

Collectors reported that their districts have already initiated preemptive flood control measures. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of the entire administrative machinery being prepared to handle any situation arising from the impending storm.
