Mon Dec 02 02:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Bears Begin Head Coaching Search After Midseason Firing

**Chicago, IL** – The Chicago Bears have begun their search for a new head coach following the midseason firing of Matt Eberflus. Eberflus was let go Friday, a day after a Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions, leaving offensive coordinator Thomas Brown as interim coach for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Several candidates are already emerging as potential replacements, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Top contenders include interim coach Thomas Brown, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, and former Titans coach Mike Vrabel.

A surprising name in the mix is Kliff Kingsbury, the Commanders’ offensive coordinator. Kingsbury, who previously coached the Arizona Cardinals, spent the 2023 season as a senior offensive analyst at USC, where he worked with Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, the Bears’ No. 1 overall draft pick in 2024. Kingsbury’s success with Williams has made him an attractive candidate. The Bears previously interviewed Kingsbury for their offensive coordinator position earlier this year.

The Bears’ search promises to be highly competitive, with several experienced and promising candidates vying for the position. General manager Ryan Poles will lead the process in the coming weeks.
