MIRPUR, BANGLADESH – Bangladesh secured a commanding 2-0 lead in their three-match ODI series against Ireland with a comfortable victory in Mirpur today. Chasing a target of 193-6, Bangladesh reached 197-5 with 6.1 overs to spare.
Fargana Hoque Pinky led the chase with a crucial 50, while contributions from Sharmin Akter (43) and Nigar Sultana Joty (40) ensured a comfortable win. Despite early wickets, including that of Murshida Khatun, Bangladesh cruised to victory after reaching 100-1 by the 28th over.
Ireland’s innings was hampered by crucial run-outs of Orla Prendergast (37) and Laura Delany (33) by Rabeya Khan. Amy Hunter top-scored for Ireland with 68, but the visitors struggled to accelerate after losing both Prendergast and Hunter in quick succession in the 35th over. Delany (2-43) was the pick of the Irish bowlers, but Ireland’s total ultimately proved insufficient.
The final ODI will be played on Monday in Mirpur, followed by a three-match T20 series commencing in Sylhet on Thursday.
