Mon Dec 02 00:02:33 UTC 2024: ## Infosys Hit with Record $3.3 Million Fine for US Visa Fraud

**New Delhi, November 30, 2024** – Infosys, the tech giant co-founded by billionaire Narayana Murthy, has been fined a record Rs 283 crore (over $3.3 million) for systemic visa fraud in the United States. The settlement resolves allegations that Infosys misused the B-1 visitor visa program, circumventing stricter requirements of the H-1B visa program for skilled workers. This allegedly allowed Infosys to lower labor costs unfairly.

While Infosys did not admit liability, the settlement includes implementing stricter compliance measures to prevent future violations. The fine serves as a significant deterrent to other corporations operating in the US, highlighting the importance of adhering to immigration laws.

Despite this setback, Indian IT giants have reported strong financial performance this year. Wipro led the pack, delivering a 47% return to investors, followed by Tech Mahindra (45.72%), HCL Technologies (43.85%), Infosys (33.46%), and TCS (24.81%).
