Mon Dec 02 03:00:00 UTC 2024: **49ers QB Brock Purdy to Return Against Bills Despite Shoulder Injury**

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is set to return to the field this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, despite a lingering right shoulder injury. Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Purdy’s availability, stating that while he’s listed as questionable, the quarterback made sufficient progress this week in practice. Purdy missed last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers due to the shoulder issue, which he attributes to accumulated discomfort throughout a previous game rather than a single incident. While MRIs revealed no significant damage, Purdy underwent further evaluation to address concerns about a potential long-term problem. He reported feeling fully recovered after Thursday’s practice.

However, the 49ers will be without several key players due to injury. Left tackle Trent Williams (ankle), defensive end Nick Bosa (hip and oblique), cornerback Deommodore Lenoir (knee), guard Aaron Banks (concussion), and defensive tackle Jordan Elliott (concussion) have all been ruled out. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw will also remain sidelined. Shanahan expressed hope for Williams and Bosa’s return next week. The team will rely on Jaylon Moore at left tackle and is considering Ben Bartch and Spencer Burford to fill in for Banks.

The Niners will, however, welcome back cornerback Charvarius Ward, who has been absent since October due to the death of his daughter. Ward participated fully in practice this week and is expected to play. The 49ers face a significant challenge against the Bills, navigating both Purdy’s recovery and substantial personnel losses on defense and the offensive line.
