Mon Dec 02 04:22:08 UTC 2024: ## Primary Teachers’ Union Demands Holiday Reschedule for Guru Teg Bahadur Shaheed Diwas

**Ayodhya, December [Date]:** The Uttar Pradesh Primary Teachers’ Union has requested a revision to the holiday calendar, demanding that the holiday for Guru Teg Bahadur Shaheed Diwas be observed on December 6th, rather than the currently scheduled date of November 24th.

District President and Provincial Auditor Neelmani Tripathi, along with District Minister Dr. Chakravarti Singh and Treasurer Virendra Kumar Bharti, submitted a letter to the District Magistrate and District Basic Education Officer advocating for the change. Tripathi highlighted the discrepancy between the officially declared holiday date and the actual date of Guru Teg Bahadur Shaheed Diwas.

Dr. Singh further clarified that Guru Teg Bahadur Shaheed Diwas is observed based on the lunar calendar, coinciding with Ram Vivah and as indicated in the Gurudwara committee calendar, making December 6th the appropriate date for the holiday. He stated that the November 24th holiday is therefore unwarranted and should be amended.
