**Pune, India –** The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will launch a week-long campaign beginning Monday to commemorate World AIDS Day (December 1st). The initiative aims to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and support those living with the disease. Activities will include street plays, poster displays, rangoli competitions, rallies, and essay-writing contests targeting youth in schools and colleges. The campaign will take place across various locations, including Savitribai Phule Pune University, hospitals, schools, and red-light areas.

According to Dr. Nina Borade, PMC’s health chief, HIV/AIDS cases are decreasing in Pune thanks to increased testing. This year’s focus will be on educating young people. Dr. Suryakant Devkar, assistant health officer, added that the campaign will kick off with a mass awareness drive during the Pune International Marathon, utilizing street plays and display vans throughout the city. The PMC main building will also host a rangoli competition and poster displays. Group discussions and lectures are planned for municipal hospitals and maternity homes.
