**MUMBAI, INDIA –** Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Ltd. (QCIL) announced today a definitive agreement to merge, creating Aster DM Quality Care Limited, a leading hospital network in India. The merger, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals, unites four major brands – Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, KIMSHEALTH, and Evercare – under a single entity.

Backed by global private equity giants Blackstone and TPG, the combined network will boast 38 hospitals and over 10,150 beds across 27 cities. The merger values Aster DM at 36.6 times its projected FY24 earnings and QCIL at 25.2 times. The new entity plans to add another 3,500 beds by 2027, solidifying its position as one of India’s top three healthcare providers.

Alisha Moopen, Deputy Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, highlighted the strategic rationale behind the merger, emphasizing the complementary nature of the two companies’ geographical reach and clinical expertise. She stated that the merger accelerates growth, creating significant synergies and economies of scale, enabling better pricing for patients and improved financial sustainability.

The merger aims to address India’s significant healthcare demand-supply gap, particularly in underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The combined network’s expanded presence will allow for significant expansion of care in these areas. A key focus will be on strengthening oncology services, leveraging the combined expertise and investment to address the rising cancer burden in India.

Moopen also emphasized the importance of creating a connected healthcare ecosystem, integrating services like pharmacies and primary care to provide holistic patient care. She highlighted the role of private equity investment in driving growth within the Indian healthcare sector, noting that Aster DM’s partnerships have been instrumental in its success. The merger represents one of the largest healthcare transactions globally this year, signaling a significant consolidation trend within the Indian healthcare market.
