VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh – NTR district In-charge Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav on Saturday stressed the importance of coordinated efforts between officials and elected representatives to address developmental challenges and improve the lives of citizens. At a District Review Committee (DRC) meeting, the Minister, along with Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath and Collector G. Lakshmisha, reviewed progress across 34 departments.
Discussions focused on various issues including healthcare, irrigation, agriculture, and infrastructure. Officials reported that ₹304.08 crore has been disbursed as flood compensation following September’s heavy rains. Agricultural initiatives like ‘Polam Pilustondi,’ promoting advanced farming techniques, were also highlighted. The meeting also addressed the implementation of the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, providing crop insurance for paddy, maize, and groundnut farmers. Premiums are due by December 31 (paddy) and December 15 (maize and groundnut).
MLAs raised concerns about assistance for families affected by recent rockslides, school repairs needed after flood damage, and the establishment of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) purchase centers. The possibility of expanding Vijayawada Municipal Corporation limits to include peripheral areas was also discussed to facilitate faster development.
Minister Yadav concluded by emphasizing the government’s focus on improving living standards, providing clean water, creating employment opportunities, attracting investment, and enhancing urban spaces.
