**Mumbai, December 1, 2024** – Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is recovering from a bout of fever and throat infection, his family doctor confirmed. Mr. Shinde, who is being treated by a team of doctors in his native village in Satara district, is expected to make a significant decision by Sunday, according to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat.

Despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Chief Ministerial candidate, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that the Mahayuti government’s oath-taking ceremony will take place on December 5th at 5 PM at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a landslide victory in the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections, winning a comfortable majority. While the BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP secured 57 and 41 seats respectively. The alliance is yet to officially announce its Chief Minister. Mr. Shirsat indicated that any outstanding issues regarding ministry allocation to alliance partners should be resolved by Monday evening.
