Sun Dec 01 10:22:39 UTC 2024: ## Rain-Hit India vs Australia PM XI Match Ends in India’s Victory
**Canberra, December 1, 2023:** The two-day practice match between India and Australia PM XI at Manuka Oval, Canberra, was significantly impacted by rain, resulting in a shortened game and an Indian victory. The first day was completely washed out, preventing the toss from taking place.
Play finally commenced on the second day, with India winning the toss and electing to bowl. A reduced 46-over-a-side match saw Australia PM XI post 240 runs in 43.2 overs. Sam Constanti top-scored with a magnificent 107 runs, while Henno Jacobs contributed a quick 61. India’s bowling attack was led by Harshit Rana (4 wickets), with contributions from Akashdeep (2 wickets) and Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja (1 wicket each).
In response, India’s chase got off to a promising start with Yashasvi Jaiswal (45) and KL Rahul (27) building a partnership. However, the innings was punctuated by wickets, leaving India needing 165 runs to win. A late flurry of runs from Shubman Gill and others secured a victory for the Indian side.
The match provided valuable practice for both teams ahead of the second Test match in Adelaide, starting December 6th. The upcoming Test will be a day-night encounter, making it crucial for India to build momentum after winning the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth. Australia suffered a significant blow with the injury of Josh Hazlewood, who missed the practice match and is ruled out of the second Test. His replacement is likely to be Scott Boland.
