Sun Dec 01 01:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Cyclone Fengal Brings Unseasonal Rain to West Bengal
**Kolkata, India** – Unseasonal rain lashed parts of West Bengal on Saturday, a consequence of Cyclone Fengal impacting South India. The cyclone, which caused heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, extended its influence eastward, bringing showers to Kolkata and several South Bengal districts. While the rain was light, it added to the winter chill, creating a pleasant, albeit unexpected, atmosphere.
Kolkata’s minimum temperature, however, rose slightly compared to Friday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a possibility of further rain on Sunday, primarily in South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, and Jhargram districts. While most South Bengal districts experienced light showers Saturday, excluding West Bardhaman, Birbhum, and Murshidabad, the IMD forecasts dry weather for the region from Sunday until December 6th. A similar dry spell is predicted for North Bengal during the same period. No significant temperature changes are anticipated in either region over the next five days.
Saturday’s maximum temperature in Kolkata was 28°C (0.9°C below normal), and the minimum was 22.4°C (4.9°C above normal). Relative humidity ranged from 53% to 91%.
