Sun Dec 01 08:22:14 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal Announces ₹1000 Monthly Allowance for Delhi Women Ahead of Assembly Elections

**New Delhi:** With Delhi Assembly elections on the horizon, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is stepping up its campaign. Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, currently undertaking a padyatra (foot march), announced a significant initiative aimed at women voters: the “Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana.” This scheme will provide ₹1000 per month to eligible women in Delhi.

Kejriwal, during his padyatra in Burari, stated that registration for the scheme will begin soon. To be eligible, women must be registered voters in Delhi and over 18 years of age. The AAP government had already allocated ₹2000 crore for this scheme in the 2024-25 budget.

The announcement comes as AAP intensifies its campaign, highlighting the scheme as a key election promise alongside other initiatives like free electricity and bus services for women. Kejriwal criticized the BJP, which governs 22 states, for failing to provide similar welfare benefits. He urged attendees to inquire about electricity rates in BJP-ruled states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, contrasting them with Delhi’s 24-hour free electricity supply. The AAP is reportedly positioning six free services as its main campaign platform for the upcoming elections. The scheme bears resemblance to Maharashtra’s successful “Ladli Bahin Yojana,” which is credited with contributing to the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s victory. The BJP, meanwhile, is also actively preparing for the elections.
