**COIMBATORE, November 28, 2024** – Coimbatore Congress Councillor M. Krishnamoorthy, 62, died from injuries sustained in a fall from a bridge across the Noyyal River, police confirmed Thursday. A post-mortem examination at the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital revealed a severe neck injury as the cause of death.

According to police, Mr. Krishnamoorthy, representing Ward 56, stopped his car near the bridge around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. He reportedly slipped and fell while relieving himself, his foot catching on discarded plastic packaging. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.

Sulur police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Sulur station inspector inspected the scene. The body has been released to the councillor’s family.
