Wed Nov 27 19:00:30 UTC 2024: ## Gujarat’s Urvil Patel Smashes Record for Fastest T20 Century by an Indian
**Indore, India (November 27, 2024):** Gujarat’s Urvil Patel has rewritten the record books, smashing the fastest T20 century by an Indian cricketer. Patel achieved the feat in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Tripura on Wednesday, reaching his hundred off just 28 balls. This surpasses Rishabh Pant’s previous record of 32 balls, set in 2018.
Patel’s explosive innings included seven fours and twelve sixes, ultimately contributing to an unbeaten 113 runs off 35 balls. His performance secured a resounding victory for Gujarat, chasing down 156 runs with a remarkable 58 balls remaining. This remarkable achievement places Patel second on the list of fastest T20 centuries globally, behind only Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who scored a 27-ball century earlier this year.
Interestingly, Patel, who hails from Mehsana, Baroda, went unsold at the recent IPL 2025 mega auction despite a strong T20 record of 988 runs in 44 matches, including one century and four half-centuries. He was previously drafted by the Gujarat Titans in 2023 but did not feature in any matches. His impressive performance today showcases his exceptional talent and potential. Patel also holds the second-fastest List A century by an Indian, achieved in 41 balls last year.
