**NEW YORK, NY** – The annual inflation of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons is underway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Thousands are expected to witness the spectacle outside the American Museum of Natural History until 6 p.m. today.
Six new giant character balloons will debut this year, including Minnie Mouse, Marshall (Paw Patrol), Extraordinary Noorah (The Elf on the Shelf), Gabby (Gabby’s Dollhouse), Goku (Dragon Ball), and Spider-Man.
Spectators can view the inflation along a designated path from West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue, looping around the museum to West 81st Street and Central Park West. Officials warn that the route takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and recommend public transportation due to expected crowds. Strollers are discouraged.
Security measures are in place, with bag restrictions (maximum size 12x6x12 inches) and prohibitions on coolers, alcohol, chairs, weapons, drones, pets, and umbrellas.
The 98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade begins at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, traversing a 2.5-mile route from the Upper West Side to Herald Square. Organizers anticipate two million spectators and 10,000 participants.
