Ranchi, Jharkhand – Hemant Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Jharkhand for a fourth term on November 28th, 2024, at 4 PM. The ceremony, taking place at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi, will be attended by numerous prominent political figures from the INDIA bloc, including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi. Other attendees will include NCP chief Sharad Pawar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and CPI(ML) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya.
Soren, along with his wife Kalpana Soren, paid tribute to his grandfather, Sobaran Soren, on the 67th anniversary of his death before the ceremony. He extended a personal invitation to villagers to attend the swearing-in.
The INDIA bloc secured a decisive victory in the recent Jharkhand Assembly elections, winning 56 out of 81 seats. Soren’s JMM led the coalition to power. This marks his fourth term as Chief Minister, having previously served from 2013, following the 2019 elections, and briefly in 2024 after his release from jail. The Cabinet expansion will reportedly occur at a later date. Soren and his wife had previously extended invitations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
