**Los Angeles, CA** – Disney’s *Moana 2* is making a splash at the box office, shattering Thanksgiving weekend records with an estimated $54 million first-day gross, including a record-breaking $13.8 million preview haul on Tuesday. Industry analysts predict a massive 5-day opening weekend exceeding $170 million, easily surpassing the previous Thanksgiving record held by Disney’s own *Frozen* ($93.9 million) and *Frozen 2* ($125 million). The film’s 3-day weekend gross is projected to land between $90 million and $100 million.

This marks Dwayne Johnson’s highest-grossing domestic box office opening day, surpassing even *Furious 7*’s $147.1 million debut. It’s also Disney’s fourth blockbuster to surpass $100 million domestically under the Alan Bergman team.

*Moana 2*’s impressive performance even bests the first-day gross of *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* ($31.7 million), although the latter lacked previews. Excluding previews, *Moana 2* still boasts a remarkable $40.2 million first-day total.
