**Coimbatore, India (November 27, 2024)** – The 17th Coimbatore Vizha festival concluded with events highlighting youth engagement and environmental awareness. City Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan presented awards to winners of Shankar IAS Academy’s “Become One-day Administrator” competition. Students from various age groups (14-18, 19-23, and 24-28) proposed innovative solutions to local issues, including street dog management, child safety, and drug abuse. Winners Idris Shiek Dawood, Poornima Venkatesh, and Hari Gokul will shadow the District Collector, Police Commissioner, and Corporation Commissioner for a day.

Separately, the festival premiered the documentary “Nilgiris – A Shared Wilderness,” directed by Sandesh Kadur. The film, a collaborative effort between Kumaraguru Institutions, Felis Creations, and Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, showcases the rich biodiversity of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, emphasizing the interplay between humans and wildlife. Filmed over two years across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, the documentary attracted an audience of over 400.
