**Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu – November 27, 2024** – Recent rainfall in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu has resulted in uneven water levels across the region’s dams. While significant rainfall was recorded in certain areas, the impact on reservoir levels varies considerably.
The Papanasam dam currently stands at 89.30 feet (out of a maximum 143 feet), with an inflow of 480.31 cusecs and a discharge of 1,500 cusecs. Similarly, the Manimuthar dam’s water level is at 79.52 feet (out of 118 feet), with an inflow of 247.42 cusecs and a discharge of only 35 cusecs.
Rainfall in the last 24 hours ending Wednesday at 6 a.m. varied widely across the district. Kakkachi and Nalumukku recorded the highest rainfall at 38 mm and 46 mm respectively, while Manjolai received 22 mm. Other areas reported lower amounts, with Tirunelveli receiving only 5 mm. Cheranmahadevi, Manimutharu, Palayamkottai and Radhapuram recorded 7.20 mm, 7 mm, 9.20 mm and 4 mm respectively. Oothu recorded 42 mm of rainfall.
