**Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu –** A Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and his assistant were arrested in Denkanikottai, Tamil Nadu, on November 27th, 2024, on charges of bribery. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) apprehended Thambidurai, the VAO, and his assistant, Pushpa, after a sting operation.

The arrests followed a complaint by a farmer, Murugesan, who alleged that Thambidurai demanded a ₹4,000 bribe to expedite his application for an heir certificate. Murugesan had applied online, but his application remained pending. Following DVAC instructions, Murugesan handed the bribe money to Pushpa, who was subsequently apprehended along with Thambidurai. Both individuals were remanded after their arrest.
